You are invited to attend the TEX-21 event on Thursday, December 1st, and Friday, December 2nd, hosted by Via Metro!

Hotel Information

You are more than welcome to stay in any hotel you would like, but if you need assistance in finding a hotel here are two great options:

Embassy Suites in San Antonio

We have negotiated a block of rooms at this hotel. You are responsible for all room costs. Included with the room are the following amenities at no extra cost: cooked-to-order breakfast each morning, manager’s reception each evening, including drinks and snacks, self-parking, Wi-Fi in all guest rooms, hotel shuttle within a 3-mile radius, and daily housekeeping (available upon request). VIA will provide a shuttle to the events on Thursday ONLY.

This room block is very limited!

You can book a room for Dec. 1 to Dec. 3 if you would like to stay for the weekend.

On Thursday, December 1st, On Thursday, December 1st, VIA Metro has organized a bus tour of their Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, including a walking tour of their Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Bus Fueling Station, which is the largest in North America! On the tour, a VIA staff member will brief us on their various operations and projects. After the VIA tour, we will have an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experience, guided VIP experience tour at the historic Alamo and access to the non-public Alamo vault, where rarely seen artifacts are kept, including "The Phil Collins Collection"! Because of overwhelming response for dinner on Thursday, we have moved dinner to Alamo Hall on the historic Alamo grounds. During dinner, the Executive Director of the Alamo Trust, Kate Rogers, will be giving a presentation on the future of the Alamo historical site. Reception and dinner will immediately follow the Alamo tour.

NOTE: The tours and dinner on Thursday are only open to TEX-21 members or those who are seriously considering strengthening our organization with their membership. Spots are limited for the Thursday evening events, so register as soon as absolutely possible! Your attendance will be confirmed by our consultants at Dean International via email, so watch your inbox!

On Friday, December 2nd, we will gather at the VIA Metro Center for the TEX-21 Statewide In-Person Meeting. Due to the jam-packed schedule, we will start earlier than usual with breakfast, registration, and networking from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. This decision was made to ensure that we accommodate all of the speakers and end the day promptly before 2:00 PM. This statewide meeting is focused and geared toward transit opportunities and our various initiatives, including corridor coalitions and Third Coast Initiative.

During the statewide meeting, we will have a panel of the members in our Legislative Caucus representing the San Antonio area. Additionally, we will have concurrent sessions on seven of our initiatives, including the TEX-21 US-377 Corridor Coalition, TEX-21 Transit/Rail Taskforce, TEX-21  I-14 Corridor Coalition, TEX-21 Third Coast Initiative, Commerce of Transportation and Technology, TEX-21 US-287 Corridor Coalition, and TEX-21 I-30 Corridor Coalition.

If you had the opportunity to attend the TEX-21 meeting in Granbury, Texas, you had the honor of hearing from our esteemed Texas State Demographer, Lloyd Potter, announce that Texas has over 30 million residents today! With that historic revelation came an immediate realization that Texas must become a world-class multimodal transportation mecca.

You will want to attend this informative meeting! Lunch will be provided by Via Metro. While these events are complimentary, they are subject to space availability, so everyone must be registered to attend!

We hope to see you there! Feel free to forward this invitation to any of your colleagues that you believe would be interested in the topics discussed.

Sincerely,
